When Romeo, of all people, a Montague, and Juliet, a Capulet, fall head over heels in love with each other, they plunge into deepest conflicts about it. But Father Lorenzo, who is not insignificantly involved in the progress of history, senses the great opportunity to finally show about the happiness of the two young people how absurd the intimately cherished enmity ultimately is.
But then the quarrel escalates again in the strongest terms when Romeo, who has just secretly married his Juliet, who actually wants to stay out of the whole dispute, is forced to take revenge on his friend Mercutio and murdered Juliet’s cousin Tybalt.
Father Lorenzo’s plan, how the two lovers can live their happiness together, despite all the obstacles that seem all the more insurmountable, relies on dramatic means such as deception and manipulation. But unfavorable coincidences thwart its timely implementation and thus its entire process, especially since Count Paris, scheduled by his parents for Julia, wants to speed up the marriage. So the accident takes its fatal course …
Shakespeare’s emotional classic about the conflict of young lovers, who overcome borders and prejudices and ultimately make peace, is presented open air in a fresh version.
